LEGION Simulator Help

Default Tracks and Events

Whenever you open LEGION Simulator with a new LEGION Model file (*.lgm) and either a LEGION Simulator (*.ora) or LEGION Simulation Results (*.res) file, the following default tracks, with associated events, are added to the Timeline:

  • Record .RES – this track contains a full-length Record .RES event that records a LEGION Simulation Results file (*.res) for the whole of a simulation.
    • Not available by default, if LEGION Simulator is opened with a LEGION Simulation Results file (*.res).
  • Record .AVI – this track contains a full-length Record .AVI event that records a video (*.avi) file for the whole of a simulation.
  • Maps - this track contains a Save Map event in the last time-step of a simulation that saves all active maps as Bitmap (*.bmp) image files.
  • Graphs - this track contains a Save Graph event in the last time-step of a simulation that saves all graphs' data to a Microsoft Excel Open XML Spreadsheet (*.xlsx).
  • Save 15-minute Underground maps - this track contains Save Map and Reset Map events every 15 minutes that save Bitmap (*.bmp) image files of sequential 15-minute Cumulative Mean Density (CMeanD) and Cumulative High Density (CHD) maps built to London Underground specifications.
  • Save 60-minute Underground maps - this track contains a Save Map event every hour that saves Bitmap (*.bmp) image files of Cumulative Mean Density (CMeanD) and Cumulative High Density (CHD) maps built to London Underground specifications.

All valid track properties have been set and all you need to do to run these events is to press the record button on the Timeline's playback toolbar. All recorded files will be saved in the same location as the current LEGION Simulator (*.ora) or LEGION Simulation Results (*.res) file.

Tip: The Record .AVI event selects Microsoft Video 1 as the default codec, if installed. If so, you may wish to recompress the final file, as LEGION Simulator may only apply the codec to output as it is produced, while compression is most effective when all data is available from inception. If Microsoft Video 1 is not installed, the Record .AVI event saves Full Frames (Uncompressed) and produces a very large file. So, if you have alternative codecs, you may wish to change this setting in the AVI tab of the track's properties.

You can change the properties of the default tracks and events, delete them, disable them, change the default event colours and so on. These subjects are covered in the rest of this part of the guide.
